One adult cat flea lays 40 to 50 eggs a day. Eggs roll off the host (your dog, your cat, or a possum in the roof void) and into the carpet, the bed, the couch, the rug. In SE QLD humidity, those eggs hatch in 1 to 12 days. The resulting larvae pupate in the carpet pile and can stay dormant in the pupal stage for months, hatching the moment vibration and CO2 from a returning pet or person hits them. That is why vacant rental homes are often the worst flea infestations of all, the pupae have been waiting for a host to return.
Topical pet treatments alone do not solve a home infestation. They kill adult fleas on the pet but do nothing to the 95% of the flea population (eggs, larvae, and pupae) living in the carpet, the floorboards, and the soft furnishings. Cat flea (Ctenocephalides felis)
Despite the name, the cat flea is the species responsible for almost every flea infestation we see in SE QLD homes, regardless of whether the host is a cat, a dog, a possum, or a previous tenant’s pet. Adults are tiny (1 to 4mm), dark brown, wingless, and capable of jumping up to 30cm vertically. They feed on warm-blooded hosts and lay eggs that roll off the host into the environment.

95% of a flea population is not the adult fleas you see jumping. It is the eggs, larvae, and pupae living in carpet pile, between floorboards, under couch cushions, in pet bedding, and in any soft furnishing the host uses regularly. This is why vacuuming and pet-treatment alone never solves a real infestation, the bulk of the population is invisible.

How long does a flea treatment take?
Most flea treatments take 45 to 90 minutes for a standard Gold Coast home. Time depends on floor area and how many carpeted rooms need treatment. End of lease treatments cover the whole property as standard.
Are the products safe for kids and pets?
Yes. We use professional low-toxicity formulations applied to Australian Standards. Pets and kids must stay off treated carpet until it is fully dry (usually 30 to 60 minutes). After that, normal use is fine. Keep fish tanks covered during the dry-down window.
Do I need to vacuum before the treatment?
Yes. A thorough vacuum the morning of treatment removes flea droppings, eggs, and surface debris, and lifts the carpet pile so the product penetrates better. Empty the vacuum bag or canister outside immediately after, ideally into a sealed bag in the outdoor bin.
Why do you need me to vacuum AFTER the treatment as well?
This is the key step most flea treatments fail on. Vacuuming after treatment stimulates flea pupae (which can be dormant for months waiting for a host) to hatch into the residual product still in the carpet. Vacuum every 2 to 3 days for 2 weeks. Without this, pupae stay dormant and you see fleas weeks later.
